Asunción – Villarrica - Estancia – Jesuitenruinen – Itaipú
Day 1: Asunción Arrival at the Asunción Airport and transport to the Hotel. Take an afternoon tour and explore the city of Asunción -a city with a million inhabitants and a rather down to earth, original, and provincial feeling instead of a hectic pace. Visit the old train station which boasts the oldest railway in South America (no longer in service), the Panteón, the Government Palace and stroll down the main street „Calle Palma“ with us. Experience a typical South America market atmosphere at the Pettirossi Market and take advantage of the inexpensive shopping.
Day 2: Asunción – Independencia In mid-morning, drive to Independencia and vist the „Mina de Plomo“ (Lead Mine – firing range) where under expert guidance, you can put your markmanship to the test. Note: Entrance: Price of admission for a guest shoot as well as a target is included, however the hire of weapons (guns– rifles) and ammunition is not included! Finally, end the day with a visit to one of the last wine cellars of the colony (wine tasting included).
Day 3: Independencia – Estancia San Francisco Depart early in the morning for the Eco Reserve Mbatovi. Discover the flora and fauna of Paraguay from a different perspective. Here, you will be given the opportunity to go over the treetops (secured by a rope) and take in the breathtaking scenery. In the evening, we go to the Estancia San Francisco and are expected for an asado (barbaque) at a typical cattle ranch.
Day 4: Estancia San Francisco – Bella Vista Take part in the everday ranch life and explore the area on horseback. You will have the opportunity to fish in the lakes or simply relax by the pool. After lunch at the estancia, we continue on to Bella Vista There we visit the impressive Jesuit ruins in the towns of Trinidad (UNESCO World Heritage Sit) and Jesus. Under the guidance of Spanish Jesuit Padres, the Guarani Indians erected a huge complex in the middle of the then impenetrable jungle with towers, ramparts, a cathedral, and shelter for 4,000 people.
Day 5: Bella Vista – Ciudad del Este In the morning, we visit one of the largest Yerba Mate factories in Paraguay. Here we have the opportunity to follow the entire production process (in season) from harvest to finished product, and also get a tasting. No matter where you find yourself in Paraguay, you can see people drinking this in thermals, water jugs, or cups special straws. After this, we go to the „Parque Manatial“ which is named for is named for its many fresh water sources (Manatial means source). When you enter the park, you can see old cars such as a 1964 LKW or a 1969 Jeep throughout the 220 acre site. The round trip takes you frist through the woods, and down to the river. Here each participant can take part on the ropes course. Afterwords, relax by the pool, and play table tennis or vollyball. Lunch in the park is included. In the afternoon, you will be transferred 250 km to the city of Ciudad del Este.
Day 6: Ciudad del Este - Foz do Iguacu Today, we start our sightseeing tour. First we tour Itaipu, the largest hydropower plant in the world. A documentary will explain the origins of this giant plant. Afterwords, we take a bus tour to an 8 km wide dam, with a view of an enormous turbine hall inside of the dam. After this, we leave Paraguay, crossing the „Bridge of Friendship“ to Brazil. Enclosed, we will visit one of the largest waterfalls in the world. The waterfall stands 2700 meters wide, and the water falls 80 meters, creating quite the spectacle. The mist causes a rainbow which stretches over the falls, creating a natural phenomenon not to be missed. Dinner at the Churassqueria Rafain + show (closed Sundays)
Day 7: Foz do Iguacu Check out - Transfer to the airport
